 2016 Preview 


       Hooper Academy finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 1-9 record.

       The Colts last playoff victory came during the 1997 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       The Colts would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-18 record. Since 2010, the Hooper Academy football program has struggled with a record of 18-48.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Hooper Academy has managed to compile a record of 116-153. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class AAA and 28th in the AISA.

       The Colts are led by head coach Chad Michael who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Hooper Academy. The Colts have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Michael.

       Coach Michael's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 1-9 (10.0%).

       The Hooper Academy Colts will play in Class AAA region two during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Colts remain in AAA but move from region one over to region two.

       This season, the Colts will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two.

       The Colts open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Macon-East Academy on Friday, August 26 at Knight Field. Last year the Macon-East Academy Knights finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in fourth place in Class AA region two. The Knights lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Marengo Academy by a score of 60-14.

       Hooper Academy and Macon-East Academy have met a total of 24 times on the football field. The Colts have a 7-17-0 record against the Knights. They last met in 2015 with Hooper Academy winning by a score of 14-7.
